1. Epidemiologist Resident Advisor, FETP with US CDC, multiple locations
Potential duty stations in: Baghdad, Iraq; San’aa, Yemen; Kabul, Afghanistan; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Rabat, Morocco
Candidates should among other things serve as the lead technical advisor for the development and implementation of a Field Epidemiology Training Program, develop a training curriculum and implement mentored training based on epidemiologic methods in collaboration with the MOH to strengthen outbreak detection and response and disease surveillance, assist FETP faculty and trainees in the design and implementation of applied epidemiological research projects aimed at developing more effective public health interventions, supervise trainees during field activities, including outbreak investigations, surveillance system evaluations, review all projects and work conducted by FETP trainees for scientific quality and appropriateness, assist MOH/FETP with the selection of FETP trainees, including assisting the MOH to implement guidelines for selection and placement of FETP trainees and identification of appropriate assignments and supervision, etc.
Requirements include a doctoral degree or equivalent education in medicine, epidemiology, or a public health field, including at least five years of field epidemiology experience, experience training other public health professionals in field epidemiology, previous work experience in the relevant regions, including work experience with ministries of health, experience with adult education strategies would be an asset.
