3. WHO/GOARN request for assistance, Cholera, Papua New Guinea
WHO/ GOARN are looking for a Public Health Coordinator to coordinate the partners involved in the public health response, to provide assistance to the Provincial Health Office to identify newly affected cholera areas, to provide technical assistance and training to community outreach teams and environmental health teams and to provide technical assistance in the management of epidemiological data at the Provincial level among other things. Candidates must have previous experience in coordination of outbreak response activities, with advanced training in field epidemiology, and previous experience with cholera outbreak response is preferred.
Deployment is immediate and for up to 3 months.
WHO/ GOARN are also searching for an Environmental Health Officer for the following activities: to conduct assessments of the existing drinking water quality, its monitoring and management through field visits in Cholera and Shigella outbreak affected Districts and Provinces, to provide technical assistance to the National Department of Health and Provincial Health Office in the implementation of interventions to improve the access to safe water and improved sanitation in areas affected by diarrhoeal disease outbreaks, etc. Candidates should have previous experience in providing technical assistance to watsan activities during disease outbreaks, with cholera experience, and background in capacity building is also necessary. This one is for immediate deployment until end June.
