6. Field epidemiologist, Goma/ Democratic Republic of Congo
The position’s scope is to provide technical assistance to the Health and Nutrition cluster leads and cluster members and Provincial Health Authorities and to provide ad-hoc regional support to other partners according to the guidance of the HNTS Technical Secretariat.
Responsibilities include to assist partner agencies and Provincial Health Authorities in assessing health and nutrition information needs for monitoring the impact of the crisis, and the humanitarian response on health and nutrition outcomes and health systems; to provide technical assistance to, and support capacity building of partner agencies, Provincial Health Authorities and other stakeholders in data collection, analysis, interpretation, dissemination and use, through the application of internationally accepted methods, guidelines and tools, with focus on relevant health and nutrition information for the above purposes; to contribute to the compilation of data from different sources and the production of sitreps, bulletins and other reports, in coordination with UNOCHA and other agencies; to take part in managing broad consultation with both informational producers and users, and promote coordination of, and foster partnership around HNTS; to support existing coordination mechanisms, such as the Health and Nutrition Clusters at Kinshasa and North Kivu levels, and existing data collection and analysis systems such as Integrated Phase Classification (IPC) led by FAO at regional level as well as in DRC, etc.
Candidates should have an advanced degree in epidemiology or masters in public health with a focus in epidemiology; experience in humanitarian emergencies in the field of epidemiology, and especially in conducting nutrition and/or mortality cross-sectional surveys, with previous experience in a crisis affected country, etc.
