7-11 December 2009, Concepts of Epidemiology: crash course, Edinburgh, UK
Dear colleagues, in previous years , nearly all of you were kind enough to take note of the crash course in epidemiology and pass on information as appropriate, e.g. by forwarding this e-mail to individuals or to groups, by linking it to your organisational web site, publishing an extract in your newsletters, and publishing it in conference/seminars/courses listings. I wonder if I could ask you to do this favour for me again. You help has been important in establishing this course, which has been attracting 25-30 people in each of the previous three years.
The good news is that this year, for the second time, we have some bursaries for Scotland-based participants working/studying in the public sector, courtesy of the generosity of NHS health Scotland, which will be used for those who cannot raise the funding from their employers.
On the matter of funding, I declare that surpluses from course fees are used to support the post of an upcoming epidemiologist in the department, with no personal financial benefit to me.
The course website is:

To make the task easier for both of you here is a little text:
Concepts of Epidemiology: crash course 7-11th of December 2009, Edinburgh, UK
This is the fifth 5-day crash course in Epidemiology, following on the success of previous courses starting in 2005. The course is intended for those who want to lay a sound foundation to their knowledge of epidemiology, particularly as it relates to public health practice, policy and research. It will be most suitable for those in the health professions, such as nurses, doctors, health promoters, health policy makers and health researchers. Social sciences, statistics and health management colleagues may also find the course useful.
Delegate feedback from the previous courses has been first class. Usually 100% of respondents indicate that the course met (or exceeded) their expectations and that they would recommend it to their colleagues. The feedback is on the course website as above.
Many thanks. Also, please forgive me if this is not the first time you have received this request this year.
