Aparet Program Officer

The Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine Hamburg, invites applications for a position as Programme Officer for the new EU-funded “African Programme for Advanced Research Epidemiology Training” (APARET)
The programme officer will lead and coordinate the programme in cooperation with the programme coordinator. The EU funded position is a fixed term position for 3 years. The salary will be fixed in accordance with the German TV-AVH (Tarifvertrag für die Arbeitsrechtliche Vereinigung Hamburg).
Required qualifications are an MD or a University degree in Epidemiology. Having graduated a Field Epidemiology Training Programme (e.g. FETP, FELTP, PAE or EPIET) is desirable. Good command of English and French, German is an asset. Experience with word processing programs, spreadsheet software packages and presentation software is mandatory. Experience with database and with statistical software packages is an asset as well as working and living experience in African countries. The Programme Officer should be ready for extended travel in particular to African countries.
Main tasks will be the
- Implementation and coordination of the APARET programme
- Participation in epidemiological research projects in cooperation with African partners
