The call for abstracts for the European Scientific Conference on Applied Infectious Disease Epidemiology (ESCAIDE) conference opened on 24th April.
The ESCAIDE scientific committee has agreed to extend the deadline for ESCAIDE abstract submission. This was due to close on 3rd July but will now be extended until 15th July. The extension has been agreed to support many scientific colleagues who may not have time to submit abstracts because of workload (mainly caused by H1N1 crisis).

Abstracts are welcomed in the area of applied public health research, outbreak investigations and evaluation of public health surveillance. We also welcome other areas in applied epidemiology or public health practice in which results are linked to public health action.
ESCAIDE is a growing international forum for the discussion of applied infectious disease epidemiology.
The second ESCAIDE conference was held in Berlin in November 2008. The target audience for the conference includes epidemiologists, microbiologists, clinicians, public health experts, and veterinary and environmental health experts with a professional and scientific interest in applied infectious disease epidemiology.
The conference has a role in bringing together European countries, and aims to have at least two members of the National institute of Public Health from each European Union Member State and the non-EU members of the European Economic Area (EEA- Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein), along with members of the Dedicated Surveillance Networks (DSNs), and EPIET/FETP fellows and alumni.
The conference is sponsored by ECDC (European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control) and jointly organised by ECDC, EPIET (European Programme for Intervention Epidemiology) , EAN (EPIET Alumni Network) , TEPHINET EUROPE (Training Programs in Epidemiology and Public Health Interventions NETwork).
