Jobs Week 21 2011
1)(*Medecins sans Frontieres*/Doctors without Borders) as the epidemiologist
for the Comprehensive TB program in Karakalpakstan (*Uzbekistan*). The
future epidemiologist position will be a regional position covering the TB
project in Uzbekistan, with travel to the planned project in Tajikistan when
it opens. The position is split 50% for monitoring & evaluation and 50% for
analysis of the database for research questions (with opportunity to present
and publish findings). It's a very interesting setting, as MDR-TB rates here
are among the highest in the world. The position would be office-based,
though field trips to the TB hospitals and outreach clinics are necessary
and important to understand the structure of the program. There is also a
data team that is responsible for data collection, entry and quality
control. Living conditions are comfortable (based in Nukus city,
Karakalpakstan), including access to internet and satellite television
(though perhaps challenging for vegetarians).
They are looking for an epidemiologist with TB background who could start
asap, or at latest by the beginning of August 2011 for a duration of *12-18
months* (with possibility to extend).
