The Department at Colindale comprises a large team of experienced
epidemiologists at the forefront nationally and internationally of HIV & STI
surveillance and prevention. Current major initiatives include collaborating
closely with the MRC in taking forward a phase IV trial of PrEP for gay men,
monitoring and evaluating the scaled-up national chlamydia screening
programme and the HPV immunisation programme, and realising the public
health potential of new surveillance developments for monitoring recent HIV
infections and for longitudinal follow-up of STI clinic attendees and
improving the monitoring of infectious diseases among people who inject
drugs.

Excellent opportunities for post-graduate development exist, including
international collaborations, and discussions are underway to create a Band
6 rotation with other NIDSC Departments which are also at the forefront of
public health practice in the control and prevention of infectious diseases.

If you meet the person specification* and are interested in progressing a
public health epidemiological career at the forefront of HIV and STI
prevention, we invite you to submit an application through the NHS Jobs
online application process. *The closing date for all currently advertised
posts is 13 October 2011.* For further information about the specific
vacancies, please contact the staff member identified in the advertisement.
*Please note that, due to the expected volume of EU applicants, it is
unlikely that the Health Protection Agency would be successful in applying
for a certificate of sponsorship for non-EU applicants due to the
requirements of the labour market test.
