Senior Lecturer Epidemiology And Programme Science Manager: Karonga Prevention Study, Lshtm, Malawi
An experienced epidemiologist is sought to take a senior role in the Karonga programme, to be responsible for the on-site day to day management of the KPS scientific projects. This will involve the management, directing and mentoring of scientists from research fellow to senior lecturer grade in a multidisciplinary research environment. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to take on a research theme of their own consistent with the programme of research at KPS, and to play a major role in planning the next programme. This is an unusual post requiring diverse abilities and presents an exciting challenge for someone who has an interest in multidisciplinary rural field research. Applicants should have a post graduate qualification in epidemiology, PhD or equivalent experience, a demonstrable record of research output published in high-quality journals, teaching experience and evidence of academic management. Evidence of field-laboratory research in Africa will be advantageous. The appointment will be until 31 August 2011 initially, with possibility of extension pending successful funding renewal. Starting salary will be in the range £46,278 – 56,240 depending upon qualifications and experience. A displacement allowance may be applicable.
